The Nasdaq has made history. Last Thursday, December 26 will be marked in the minds of investors as the day when the technology index reached 9,000 points for the first time. The selective American has achieved this milestone with an annual revaluation of 35%, driven by the progress of the actions of several semiconductor manufacturers, which leave the FAANGs in the background.
Among the big technology, Apple is the most prominent with an annual rebound of 83% at the end of this Friday. Although the company of Tim Cook has lived its best year of the decade, it is unable to approach the rebounds of Advanced Micro Devices (+ 150%) and Lam Research (+ 115%). Although it does manage to outperform NXP Semiconductors (+ 76%).
Facebook is the second most bullish FAANG of 2019 with a 58% rise, far removed from semiconductor companies. The increases in the matrix of Google, Alphabet (+ 30%), and Amazon (+ 25%) are even smaller; while Netflix (+ 23%) is the weakest, weighed down by the high competition that has emerged during this year in the streaming television sector.
Other companies that are not specifically technological also have good behavior within Nasdaq. It is the case of Lululemon Athletica, sportswear retailer, which manages to add 90% in stock since the beginning of the year. And another example is the coffee chain Starbucks, whose actions are driven by 37%.
