Eurowings to cancel 170 flights | TIME ONLINE

Because of the strike announced by the flight attendant union UFO at the Lufthansa subsidiary for the turn of the year German Wings Eurowings canceled more than 170 flights. Domestic flights are mainly affected, the company said on its website. The union wants to go on strike for three days from Monday, Ufo rejected an arbitration offer from Germanwings.

euro Wings had initially reported 54 canceled flights for Monday and Tuesday, the information was added a little later. According to the company, 30 of the approximately 140 Eurowings aircraft fly in Germanwings flight operations.

The strike call by UFO is "completely incomprehensible and disproportionate," said Eurowings. The union is opposed to the part-time collective agreement at Germanwings, although the company has been using part-time models that have been jointly developed for a year.

"We want to keep an eye on the Lufthansa regulations"

The union accused the management of the company of misleading "games". Anyone who reads the Germanwings message carefully will see "that we are not trying to keep an eye on the collective agreement we have negotiated, but rather the Lufthansa regulations". The parent company Lufthansa but have fewer part-time opportunities than Germanwings, some models are only limited, others cannot be combined.

The flight attendant representative called on its members at Germanwings for the three-day strike on Friday. An extension of the strikes to other Lufthansa subsidiaries is possible if the group does not move. According to the information, there will be a strike from Monday, December 30th from midnight to Wednesday, January 1st at midnight. Further strikes at the Lufthansa group will be announced after January 2 at the earliest, said UFO Vice Daniel Flohr.

According to Ufo, it is about salary increases, corporate
Pension schemes and part-time arrangements for the Lufthansa subsidiaries. The
Lufthansa doubts Ufo's authority to represent
Cabin crew and sees the "union status" unresolved.
The group therefore considers the strikes to be illegal.

In the conflict it has
Already a warning strike with four Lufthansa subsidiaries and one
two-day strike at core company Lufthansa. Here
around 1,500 flights with 200,000 were affected in November
Passengers failed.
